So many great moments. Drafting Ryan Sims, Trezelle Jenkins, Brodie Croyle. Re-signing Larry Johnson. Failing to trade Tony G when something of value could be acquired for him. Delaying Herm's rebuild job, which may ultimately cost Herm his job.
We still think Herm should get another year, but we won't be devastated if he goes. The team has shown improvement through the season this year, and there appear to be some solid young players on both sides of the ball. Give Herm one more year with these guys and another draft, and see if he can get them to .500 next year.
Some folks want to fire Herm because of the "close but not quite" nature of so many of the losses this year. Well, fine, but don't overestimate the overall level of talent on this team. It may be that Herm's ability to coach a group of rookies and 5th stringers to even be close in these games is a major achievement.
