10 BEST REMAINING GAMES IN THE BIG 12

We're about a quarter of the way through the Big 12 basketball season, and we're starting to get a pretty good idea of which teams will feature most prominently in the 2010 conference race.  With that in mind, we've gone through the remaining conference games to select the 10 most intriguing remaining matchups.

Starting from the bottom:

10.  Mizzou at Colorado, 2/6.

Whoa.  How did Colorado make this list?  Well, the Buffaloes have a lot of good young talent, the excitement in Boulder is picking up (as seen in K-State's recent visit), and this is the type of game that Mizzou has to win to remain in the Top 4 conversation.

9.  K-State at Nebraska, 2/2.

Even with its recent success, K-State has consistently been stymied by Doc Sadler's Huskers in Lincoln.  If K-State truly wants to compete for the conference title, this is a must-win, and will tell us something about K-State's progress toward the top of the Big 12.

8.  KU at OSU, 2/27.

Late in the conference season, OSU will probably be looking for a marquee win to get it off the bubble and into the NCAA's.  KU will be trying to maintain a top seed and win the conference.  Although OSU is undersized, Gallagher-Iba Arena will be rockin' for this one.

7.  KU at Texas A&M, 2/15.

A Big Monday game that features a similar storyline as the #8 game.

6.  Texas at Baylor, 3/6.

The last day of conference play, and Texas has to go to Waco to face a Baylor team that's currently in the Top 25.  Things may change, but as of now this looks like it could be a tough game...and it could decide whether Texas wins the conference championship on the last day of the season.

5.  Texas at Texas A&M, 2/27.

The same day as KU plays at OSU.  The conference race could come down to which team takes care of business at a tough road opponent.  Plus, the Aggies will be looking for revenge after losing to the Longhorns in OT in Austin early in conference play.

4.  Texas at Mizzou, 2/17.

Road play is tough in the Big 12, and Mizzou is one of the toughest places to play.  The Tigers already took down K-State in Columbia...can Texas make up for its loss at K-State by stealing one at the Plaige?

3.  KU at Mizzou, 3/6.

Remember how Texas is playing at Baylor on the last day of the season?  Well, that's a better draw than the Jayhawks have.  You can bet KU would like to wrap up another conference title before having to go into Columbia and taking on the Antlers and the Fastest 40 Minutes in Basketball.  Mizzou may have lots of fans in Austin and Manhattan for this game...unless Mizzou itself is playing for the title.

2.  KU at K-State, 1/30.

College Gameday in Manhattan in the morning, a game with huge implications for the conference race and the Top 25 at night.  Consider:  if K-State beats OSU at home on Saturday and can go on the road and wins a tough game in Waco mid-week, it could be playing this game for a leg-up in the conference race AND the possibility of being ranked ahead of KU for the first time in decades.

1.   KU at Texas, 2/8.

Big Monday in Austin.  If Kansas wins at K-State, then this is the Hawks' opportunity to take a big lead for the conference title.  It's also Texas' opportunity to regain front-runner status.  No matter the exact stakes, the action itself should be outstanding.
